Often when patients see me in the my chiropractic office suffering with sciatic pain, usually you’ll find that the glute musculature, along with the ITB and TFL clump together, form adhesions and myofacial trigger points. This will cause dysfunction within the hip and lower back mechanics, resulting in pain and discomfort.
A great way to release this tension, trigger points and pain is to use a tennis ball.
Perform the glute release technique for 2 – 3 minutes working all the soft tissue around the hip, hold on any areas of tenderness for about 30 seconds or until you feel a release and then move onto the next area.
Do this regularly and you’ll find it really helps ease the pain and discomfort of sciatic type pain.
